PMC Test - BloodDiamonds

It's has been a while since my last post, but i now found some time for testing the new kernel. Rendered on a single GTX 470. The BG is an HDRI from "High-Res HDRI Map Pack 1 by `smashmethod" (via deviantart), the lamp is "Louis Poulsen AJ table lamp by modelplusmodel"(via turbosquid), the gun is the "Walther PPK 9mm by Shakudo"(also turbosquid), the wood texture is from Arroway, the leather is "leather pattern1 v2 from matej"(live DB) the rest is own stuff.
I wanted to test PMC on a pretty dark scene with lot's of glossy reflections and a lot of dispersion, this is what came out after about 10 hours (each) rendering time. It's raw Octane output no postpro.
Congrats Octane Team and Keep it up!!!

Hey,

10 hours is much too long, are you sure there is nothing wrong with your scene setup ?
How is your area light positioned ? Is it obscured ?

The arealight is just a modeled lightbulb with a diffuse material and some emission inside the lamp. Most of the scene was already pretty crisp after about 30 min only the caustics around the diamonds were not, so i left it cooking over night.

I just made some tests and realized, that the the behaviour of the pmc kernel seems to be a little strange. After around 10 sec it's brightening up the scene heavily and the rendering speed decreases by more than 50% (from 2.75 Ms/s to 1.2 Ms/s, cf. PT is around 4.75 Ms/s).
