Octane Crash / Illegal memory Access

Hi all,

Since version 4.0 of Octane and RC2 C4D plugin, I randomly seem to have this problem where the render encounters a failure written in red in the viewer.

Here's what the log says :

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OctaneRender 4.00 RC2 (4000012)

CUDA error 700 on device 1: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> kernel execution failed(kernel3)
device 1: picking failed
CUDA error 700 on device 1: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to launch kernel(kernel23)
device 1: direct light kernel failed
CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to deallocate pinned memory
CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> could not get memory info
CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to allocate pinned memory
device 0: failed to allocate tonemap result buffer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes it crashes after adding an hdri sky, sometimes after manipulating the number of clones in a cloner object, sometimes when playing with light emission intensity, fog pushed too hard makes the same result... Doesn't seem logical to me.

Usually, it gets better after a simple C4D restart but sometimes it needs a full reboot of my machine.

I use Cinema 4D R19, with an I7 7700k and two Nvidia GTX 1080

Thanks by advance.

G.

I get lots of these lattely too... godd news is it seems that starting from v4 XB4 Octane will start to manage memory access in a better way (I think this is related to out of core memory)... looking forward to try XB4 on C4D.

RC2 is release candicate. RC4 too, but it's more stable. Also you may try different drivers, it affects the stability.

Thanks, Aoktar
Hace I missed it? Or is the RC4 for C4d not been released yet?
Cheers

Edit: nevermind, just saw the new post

I took so long because of R20 transition.
