How do I render the hard shadows and not the shadows marked in red?

It's hard to tell from just the render, but it looks like "the shadows marked in red" are not shadows, but illumination drop off.

Perhaps you want a shadow catcher plain over a white background? Take a look at this short youtube video.

I'm on 3.08...Latest stable and none of the techniques explained anywhere work because the settings are different. I need to be able to render out a separate shadow pass without having to do a whole separate render.
