Insufficient free RAM Preferences

Hello
In the midst of a production, optimizing furniture and props for a big scene.
I have a problem with a scene, one single model, tried on 2 different machines with different GPU.
The full error message is:

Insufficient free RAM Preferences->Octane->Maximum Vertices is too high for the amount of free RAM

In the beginning It was refusing to render only after a little while, restarting Modo was fixing the problem until I stopped and restarted the interactive rendering again.

I'm pretty sure It has to do with the model but I can't spot the problem, did a mesh cleanup, removed 2 points poly etc.

Any idea?

I stayed in the same modo session, created a new empty scene and I get the same message... not sure the mesh is guilty after all.
Using the latest Modo plugin OctaneRender_for_Modo_3_08_2_133_64bit with Modo 901

Thank you

Tried to switch to the previous Octane-modo plugin version (3.06) same thing.
Now even a new empty scene won't render with the same error message.

ok, It fells like I'm talking to myself here but in case someone has the same problem, Nvidia drivers issue. Downgrading the GTX 1080 ti drivers to 2-3 previous version fixed the problem. The strange thing was that with 2 separate computers, different GPUs and Modo plugin versions, I had the same exact problem. Both drivers (gtx 970 + gtx 1080 ti) were preventing Octane / modo to perform the render.
Odd coincidence...

I think the error message says it all. Lower the Maximum Vertices in the Preferences, or free up some RAM on your PC by closing other applications.

I've also had major problems with this setting and it doesnt seem like the error message is accurate.

I think this "feature" should be removed, or at least give us a preference to disable it.

Paul, thanks for all of your excellent work on this plug in!

Sadly I can also confirm that this is a bug that I am experiencing. Even a simple cube now triggers this warning and locks me out of rendering in Octane!

How much RAM does your PC have? How much of it is showing as free in Task Manager. What is Maximum Vertices set to? Why don't you simply lower that number?

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply. 16 GB is installed on a fresh install of Windows 10 on the Razerblade 15” Nothing else is running on the machine. I’m receiving this error message with Max Verts set to only 500 and a simple low poly cube in the viewport. Just like the gentleman above describes. I have your plug in running at the same time on my 2017 MBP connected to an external GPu 1080ti and it is running fine. The scene that triggered this is relatively large and so could trigger the “too many verts” warning but I simply got this new one instead. So directly comparing the same scene between Very similar hardware the windows install simply does not work.

I have also had this happen with a simple cube
