i`m user of cinema 4d since 2008 year. from 11.5 version. 10 years. And i never seen before much more unstable plugin for c4d...crash simulator. 10 years ago realflow plugin was similar...but now octane its total leader. Come on! 3ds max more stable than cinema 4d+octane
guys. why?!

if you want crash...just take plane with few million polygons and add something. For example HDRI. Lets roll.

Hmm very interesting you feel that like this!
Have you see a lot of posts about stability issues of C4D plugin? I think not, even if you think that have biggest user database.

You're using experimental a beta plugin it's built over EXPERIMENTAL OCTANE CORE. It's crashing a lot of course. Most likely you'll see footsteps of core dll in bugreport.

how many users have account on this forum? 5%? 10%? 15 its maximum.

i can record same problem with "stable" version. result will be same. need? its not funny. I`m octane user 1.5 years, and almost every day i have some crashesh with octane. why vray, why redshift, why cycles4d much more stable?

Hi,
I have tried to reproduce your issue with a Mac Mini 2014 with Thunderbolt 2 eGPU, but everything is working super smoothly here.
Maybe you have some hardware issues, and I suggest you to close all the applications that can use your GPUs, especially AE.

I can't give you numbers but be sure that's thousands. I believe you have exceeding VRAM or you're not having a well setup.
I don't have crashes for example. And I can see you have a deep love with my plugin!

of course best variant its say something like that: its your problem, not our. its not plugin crash, its bad weather in Brazil, its not octane, its maxon, or just say its your %something else%, not our.

bepeg4d, thanks for try, but my example its...one from thousands examples. more interesting question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0uZAG4AOa8
did you know what aoktar say about it? no words. answer was very funny.

1080 not enough vram?) ok.

@max1e,
can you post a screenshot of your Octane settings > Settings > Devices tab?

in attach. of course i test with single 1080, with single 970 (before posting here), and together variant on video.

Does it help if you tick use priority on the card that has your monitor(s) connected to it?

Hi max1e,
sorry, I’m not an AE user, do I really don’t understand your ‘video-question’.
Please, note that 970 has only 3.5GB of VRAM, even less under Win 10, if you use both GPUs, the available VRAM is limited to ~3GB, and if you work in the same time with AE, the available VRAM is even less.
If you want to work with both AE and c4doctane at the same time, try this setup:
  • connect 970 to display so it will be used also for system/OpenGL, and use it also with AE and all the other applications, Photoshop, Chrome ecc. (you can define this in the Nvidia control panel)
  • use the 1080 with c4doctane - CUDA rendering only to have the maximum available VRAM
In this way, you should be able to work with both applications, with better stability.
ciao beppe

*edit: in v4 you can also use 970 for AI Denoising, and 1080 for rendering only.
