have you ever rigged a character that has 2 million polygons?
rendering time is 9 sec per frame in full hd.

I'm curious, did you use bones at all for rig?, or just parent pieces together?

yes a full rig. (genoma human biped IK / FK) you have only to paint the weights for the parts...nothing special...

little update V3
Here the "Camera Man" on a bike with a IK/FK Human Biped Rig with painted Weight Maps in combination with a bicyle automation. also works on a curve drive along a spline path. and yes. the steering wheel following than the path. the arms from the character following than the steering wheel.
the wheels following the speed of the pedal ring with the follower tool.(but you can also automate this via an expression.)
