Is Octane 3.08 compatible w/ Phoenix FD?

I recently purchased Phoenix FD and Octane (read somewhere that Octane was compatible with it), but after some simple tests, using the PhoenixFD for Scanline (rather than the VRay) build, I get nothing. Scanline render works, but not Octane or Arnold. Am I supposed to export the sim to OpenVDB in order to use Octane, rather than use PFD in it's native format?

Hi dnashj33,
here some links with Octane and PhoenixFD how-to using particles and volumes:

Phoenix exports to .vdb and Octane can use them:

take a look here to use Mediums nodes, subsurface Scattering, absorption, scattering, volume Medium, volume ramp and schlick.

Thanks for the reply. I could swear I saw some mention in this forum (I google-searched before buying PFD, regarding this question, and it led me here), that Octane was compatible with Phoenix FD but not FumeFX. Again, there was no clarification as to whether or not Octane could render native PFD sims while working with the Plugin, itself. Having to export to VDB is basically a work around.
I cannot find anything online, or manuals for either plugin, that shows how to use them together. Just snippets of brief discussions in those links. No clear guidelines or instructions on getting started.

Octane supports Phoenix using Octane WSM modifiers and the Octane developers are increasingly improving integration.
FumeFx is not supported at the moment, you can use its Sims by exporting to .VDB

Got it. Thanks. I tested it just now and indeed it does work once an Octane Volume Modifier is added above the Object in the stack. Very glad for that support.
