New user help

I've learned quite a bit since I purchased Octane, but I guess I must be pretty stupid in some areas. The problem I have now is with lighting in the Standalone version. My object is lit by a default light, that I can't find any controls for, and that I haven't found any reference to in the manual, quick start, or any tutorials I've found so far...

Can someone give me a hand?

Naturally, just a few minutes after posting this, I figured out that the Environment Texture and Power settings held the key to controlling the 'ambient' light. Now, I'm think I'm starting to figure things out. However, are there built in light sources like other rendering programs have, or are all lights made from meshes?

Hi,
you need a mesh with diffuse material and emission node to have a light in scene, different from Environment HDRI/Daylight.
You can use the following Lua script for adding a plane mesh with emitter material:
