Focal Length Limitation in C4D plugin?

Hello world!

I'm running into a limitation I think with my camera focal length. I need to go near 8000mm to shoot a planet from outer space and I can't get my Octane camera to go past ~2500. Is this a limitation? Anyone know of a work around?

Thanks!
R

Standalone appears to max out at 1200mm

Crazy situation you are in. Can you scale the entire scene until it at least looks correct?

Soooooo here's my solution so far and it's working pretty well.

Scaled my planet up rather large, sphere radius is 1000000cm and my focal length is only 250 now. I tried thinking of it more like "if I were an astronaut taking a photo of Earth, what would my settings be?". It's working pretty well, I have the curvature I want to hit. The sphere almost looks flat, very subtle curve since we're only seeing a small slice of the planet in frame.

I'm guessing in the real world, focal lengths have a limit too. So it came down to scaling my scene up to better reflect real world objects. Of course, my planet Earth is still smaller than the real thing :) About 1/6th I think.

How/where did you find focal length parameter in Octane plugin?

I think he means that the Octane Camera only responds to the C4D Camera Focal Length setting under Object Properties up to the 2500mm point. Higher than that, even though the C4D view pane for that camera responds properly above that number, the image actually rendered in the Live Viewer stops at 2500.
