Hello community.

I am pretty new to Octane and I am working on my first scene that is strictly interior, no outside light and all lighting (currently) coming in the form of Octane lights, not emission geometry.

Now, in my IPR and Render window I have these bright white specks and they are terrible. They exist both with Path Tracing and Direct Lighting Kernels.

Any idea what parameter to change or increase to get rid of them? I have increased the samples considerably and this does not help.

Using LightWave 2018 and latest Octane Build.

Thanks!

Try reduce GI bounces to 10 or 2.

In your Imager.Camera node reduce "Hot Pixel Visibility" to around 60%.

A very helpful tip I found somewhere to avoid fireflies / artifacts is this one: never put light sources too close, or even inside of geometry.

I used to think on lighting setup the same way as I would do it on real life, but it's much better to alter the position of lights in order to set them "free" of geometry around them. And then, for visible light sources, such as fluorescent lights, I would create a geometry with black body emission, but without affecting diffuse or reflections, just to be able to "see" the light.

Yeah, and recessed ceiling lights make tons of fireflies. Those simply must be faked with octane light just outside of cylinder, imo.
