Try switching over to the pathtracing kernel instead of the direct lighting kernel... Path tracing supports alpha shadows properly, however, it takes a much longer time to render.

Hi,

Beta 1.22 is 7 months old and back then alpha shadows did not work yet,
The current versions, and the 1.46b demo which you can download on the downloads page does.

Neither of those 2 demo versions support the resolution your image is rendered in though.
So I guess you're not using a 'demo' version. :)

Sorry but i don't understand your question,
also, how do you render at this resolution when the demo versions are limited to a lower one and they can't be changed ?
