Why does Octane generate unused materials?

I have a scene with a whole load of materials many of which aren't applied to any objects in the scene. When I start the live viewer, Octane generates these materials, and also converts other materials from Arnold etc before it displays a preview. It can take quite a bit of time. I know I can clean these unused materials from my scene, but some of them will be used later on.

Is this normal behaviour? Seems pointless.

Yes it will keep all materials for special reasons. It's different than others for design purposes for live mode.

Hi Aoktar,

A scene may be several setup of objects and material for various reason. Why they must be loaded all materials if then they will not used all for the render? When I need to Edit in Standalone the plugin export ALL materials. This is time consuming expecially when I une very large image textures, I then must delete they manually. Could you add a command that can exclude unuseded materials? It will be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Manu

I think that my explanations is not making much sense. It's not a matter of adding one command. It's not so simple as you thought. I did this in past and caused a lot of problems to me. And i cancelled, it's just available for Picture Viewer. Things are much more complicated for Live mode.
