I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong or if there's something wrong with X-Particles, but for some reason emitters don't want to work with the octane object tag. I've tried the sample scenes and it only seems to work when the object tag is on an xptrail...

You cannot use demo version of XP with Octane particle engine. It's the reason of your problems.
