Octane & Team Render

I have an Octane Studio subscription, and I use it on my Mac Pro on a single 980ti. I have another 980ti arriving this week to improve my rendering speed.
I am also thinking about putting 2 x 980ti in another Mac Pro that I have and using that with another Octane Studio subscription to work as another standalone rendering machine.
Can I also use the second machine as a rendering node for the first machine and use team render to have 4 x 980ti working together?
How well does team render work with Octane? And can I do it using 2 x Octane studio subscriptions?
The reason I am buying 980ti cards is that they are reasonably cheap on the used market, can't afford 1080tis!

Hi,
yes sure, you need an active subscription for each Team Render clients, but you can use the power of all the GPUs in your LAN only in Picture Viewer/Render Queue, max 2x GPUs per client:
Team Render
On the other side, with a Combo for your Master, and a Standalone for the Slave, you can use the Octane Network Rendering option, and use the power of all the GPUs in your LAN also in Live View, with up to 20x GPUs per Master:
Octane Network Render

So I need the full version of Octane on each mac to use 4 x 980tis in the live viewer?

Yes, you need a Combo Standalone + plugin for your Master, and a Standalone license for the Slave, to be able to work with up to 20x GPUs.

Just checking the Octane Studio subscription page and it says that network rendering is not available with the subscription version. Can you clarify whether I can use team render or not?

Hi,
with Subscription c4doctane licenses you can use only the Team Render feature, while with commercial licenses you can use both Team Render and Octane Network feature, depending on your needs.
Please, let me know if something is still not totally clear.

So I have an Enterprise Subscription licence and Octane crashes every time I try and Team Render using another machine with the same C4D and Octane on it.
I'm using r21 and Octane 2019.1.5-R3 on both machines and firewall is turned off.
The 2nd machine just wont get past trying to activate Octane which of course is tied to a single machine in a subscription licence.
(Both machines render the same machine independently without any issues)
So is it possible or not to use Team Render with the licence I have or not?
Thanks.

Hi,
please, post a screenshot from console log (Shift+F10).
Have you tried to render with standard c4d render engine, via Team render?
Since c4d Team Render needs that each client has the same activated plugins, you need a full Enterprise or Studio license for each Team Render client.
Do you have an Octane license per client?

Is it possible to use Team Render from a Mac M1 to a PC?
And do I need two licenses for that when I have a Enterprise license? (This could be a solution for me meanwhile waiting for the native network rendering across M1 and PC / Cuda).
If so, what versions should I use?
