Question about Polygon mesh discontinuity.

Hi guys

I've just downloaded beta version, and am testing Octane Render with Softimage 2011 SAP now.
It is so far great, obj file imported properly, but I found one problem here.
As I made circles on this picture, you will see not smooth polygon surface. I don't know how to remove this one : /
I have save polygon data in Softimage with just default geometry approximation though. Is there any way to change polygon tessellation in Octane?

One more question is about Softimage plug-in. I guess it is not included in beta version, so do I need to buy beta version for it? The reason why I am asking about the plug-in is because my most job is animated movie file, so I need to test that animation data is properly imported or not, and also like to test RT interacting rendering which I have seen it on Vimeo.

I will wait for answer :)
Cheers Octane~

ouch, I found the answer of discontinuity problem on this forum O_o. It is about 'smooth' check. eheh~ but still need to hear about the plug-in. If anyone knows, please answer :)

Cheers

Hi,

You need to purchase a 99 EURO beta license to gain access to all plugins, yes,

Softimage and octane plays very nice together. You can render ice instances etc. I've done more than 15 animation projects with octane now and haven't had any problem at all. Note though that motion blur from objects aren't supported yet. Othervise no problem!

You can also export subD´s, if you want to tesselate your model.
You should know, that instance models aren´t supported by the plugin, because i haven´t find any solution to get the meshdata from it.
But maybe i can ask Helge Mathee, which should known how to do it.

The realtime feature is an unsupported feature and aren´t included.
It´s only a little test for me to see what´s possible...
It works only for camera settings, like DOF, aperture, FOV, focal depth and i can integrate some render settings like samples, exposure and daylight settings.

Changes in the geometry must ex/import again.
Same with the material settings, i think.
