I'm not c4d user but believe that workflow is similar for every 3d app. It's best to apply simple materials in c4d, export scene in obj format, import it in octane and continue fine tuning materials. You can't import any complex materials from cinema inside octane.
Download demo and start exploring:). It's fun thing to do:).

Hi,
Just scale your UV map.
Assigning textures to geometry is currently the domain of the 3d modeling app,
we don't have controls for it in octane yet,
although the current recommended workflow is to assign textures in the 3d app.

Hi
I`m using Cinema 4D and I have no problem exporting scenes out.
But you can`t use the internal exporter in Cinema because that one sucks, can`t understand why Maxon after all these years haven`t done anything to make it work.
I use Riptide obj. exporter witch can be downloaded from here
http://skinprops.com/download.php don`t know if the free version find
under the 9.1 version works with Octane but the Pro version works fine and it has a 30 days trial period.
Watch the Cinema tutorial video, even if it is in italian and I didn`t understand a single word it shows the prosess very well using the Riptide software.

Hey,
The v0.81a demo is identical in terms of importing OBJ and MTL materials to the commercial version,
so you should be able to get your materials into octane using the riptide plugin as stated by Osher.
Unfortunately i can't give you help with this as i don't have cinema 4d / riptide myself.

Hi all,
My first post on this forum ! Really happy to discover the marvelous world of Octane !
I use too Cinema 4D 11 and Riptide (free version). It works fine for me but all my textures are located in the same directory. You should try to make a "Save project..." to collect all your textures in only one folder before exporting as .OBJ with the Riptide plug-in (located in your Plugins menu) in the same folder.
You should also avoid to have spaces caracters in the filenames of your textures and folders. Octane doesn't import texture correctly in this case. Probably a parsing problem of the .MTL file. I don't know...
Hope this will help you
