No,

We are working towards the complete v1.0 feature list in steps.
It's not possible to implement everything in only a few weeks.
We are doubling the development team in 3 weeks though, so the target will be met fairly soon,
i expect it will take us 2-3 months to implement everything listed on the features page,
if everything goes optimal.

Can we know whats new in this new BETA 1.0 release please?

Also is there any roadmap available? I also suggest a blog. That may create some hype and newcomers.
Peace

Not publically, we inform customers in our customer forums...
the new release contains the features as in the announcement in the news & announcements forums.
Maybe i'll add a development blog soon.

I applaud everyone at Refractive software for their hard work and being the first to get GPU rendering to market

Sorry you got sick Radiance - thanks for the work - I know you lost a little time but its looking good for the future.

Thx

Hey,

Yeah, we've been delayed with some and we'll be providing the remaining features as we go with the following betas...
From a license point of view you don't have to buy a new license,
your v1.0 license is valid for these and next revisions...

It's not always easy to plan development, we constantly hit issues by coding for a GPU, and i did lose about 1,5 weeks of time by being sick 2 weeks ago.

Most people expect octane to be able to compare feature wise to existing renderers that have 4-5 years of development behind them. Octane is now about 6 months old, you can't expect us to write 4-5 years of code in 6 months... We're also charging 99 euro's currently instead of the 3-6x as much as competing engines to make up for it.

All features promised on the v1.0 features page are still valid and will be supplied with the upcoming releases to beta license holders.

Thats fair enough. Thanks for all the hard work.

Octane still produces the best looking images out there - bar none, in my very humble opinion.

if there can be an "order of features" requests page, I put in for "animation support" to get attention.

Many thanks for all the work and the candour. Much appreciated.

Take a rest...

James

My main expectations were about Alpha layer support and Emitting meshes, but I can live without !

I'm already very happy to save my scenes ! That is a great step.

As serious things will really begin when I will have upgraded my harware (waiting for the upcoming GTX 480 and gathering infos to choose a more powerful monorail PSU), I'm not in a hurry.

So, Thank you for the great job done, and take some time to recover from the flu !

Rather than promising this and that is coming soon its probably better to be up front and realistic about what can be achieved by a small company at this stage.
People like Octane already and many have bought it however people are going to be peeved if anticipated stuff keeps slipping for whatever reason.
I think Refractive should take a month now rather than 2 weeks to get some more issues fixed, add a few promised main features and include a few of the simpler enhancement requests.
Better to get a decent amount done than drip feed bits IMO.
Being in constant deficit to meet fostered expectations is not a good idea either for coders or customers.
