Depth of Field

I can't seem to set my f-stop to less than 0.5 on the Octane camera tag - is that normal? I need a really shallow depth of field, and 0.5 isn't giving me it.

0.5 is crazy small compared to real world lenses and it doesn't go lower.
Try using a more telephoto lens (bigger focal length) and make sure your scene-scale fits your needs. DoF depends very much on the scale of your scene, so you won't get a huge effect if your scene is hundreds of meters big, but a huge effect if your scene is very small.

If that's not an option you can always render without DoF and use masks and the z-pass to add it later.

You can open standalone and find/check the parameters when you have questions.

Thanks Hausgross - project scale did the trick, got the macro lens look I was looking for.

You can manually enter values less than .5 and that works too. No need to change scene scale.
