Hi everyone,

Currently exporting VDB's I have created in Houdini for rendering in Octane for C4D.

Does anyone have any recommendations on best render settings to get maximum quality. Currently getting a lot of artifacts when rendering, trying to establish if thats from the VDB files or my poor choice in render settings etc. I have attached some pictures of what I mean. Any advice is welcome, cheers :)

The vdb pixelation is due to low resolution grid cells

Hi there,

Is this something I need to amend in Houdini or Octane? Thanks,

Andrew

Hi I never used Houdini we are singing 3ds max with Phoenix FD In the picture you can see grid cell size for better resolution. If you are planning to do upclose fire rendering you should increase resolution. Also in octane material (Volume Medium) where it says volume step length make it 0.3 - 0.5 for more detailed fire/explosion
