newbie - problem activating octaneVR

Hi all, sorry if this is a newbie question:

I've only just found out about octaneVR - I'm a freelance graphic designer and I do a bit of work in Poser 11, and for the sake of $20 a month, thought I've have a go with it.

I have successfully downloaded and installed the octaneVR+poser plugin, but I can't seem to unlock/activate it.

I've gone to my subscriptions management page on the website to try and activate it. The subscriptions are both showing for standalone and poser, with 2 unlocks on each, but the 'Deactivated' buttons are both greyed out. I've clicked on the 'View Info' buttons, and both subscriptions show as "Active" in subscription details.

Am I just being a doofus? What have I missed?

Thanks in advance

John

Hi John,

Have you entered your user name and password when prompted by the plugin?

What have you already done and what is the exact behavior you are experiencing?

Hi Mojave, thanks for the reply.

I've put my otoy username and password into the poser plugin, and it brings up a "Could not find the required licence" box. It's showing my account name correctly, and it's the same account name that I've registered on otoy, so I assumed I had to unlock the subscription via the website before the plugin would authenticate me, but I can't find any way of doing that.

Any idea what could be doing wrong?

Hi John1971

You may have installed the wrong software. If you have purchased a Subscription, you need to download and install 'OctaneVR' and 'OctaneVR for XYZPlugin'.

Please email a screen shot showing the error message to the help desk [email protected] and the Team will get it sorted.

Kind regards, Win

Thanks Win,

I have been onto support, and it does seem like my poser plugin is trying to use the commercial version of octane. Which is odd, because I have definitely downloaded the subscription versions of standalone and plugin (these were the only ones available to me on my download page).

I have tried running octaneVR 3.06.4 standalone on its own, and it connects and authenticates just fine.

I had previously installed and run the octane demo, I'm no expert but did wonder if that might be confusing things somewhere in the system registry?
