Freezes on high-poly models

I have model 8 millions polygons. Using octane 3ds max plugin.
When I open model (edit poly model with modificator mesh smooth), and try render it - 3ds max freezes. It can not handle it. I have 1080 TI, 128gb ram, 5960x core I7.
Previously was using vray and it was long render, but still rendering. Would be happy if you can help.

Hi Ociacia,
polygons limit is around 40 million, so this should not be cause of issue.
Keep in mind polygons are stored in Vram but textures too;
Os and monitor/s need Vram: Window 10 eats 20% Vram, (win 7 less), your monitor/s are connected to 1080TI?
Other applications could use 1080TI Vram: photoshop, chrome etc.
Here is a reference to configure hardware with Octane Render:
https://docs.otoy.com/StandaloneH/Stand ... ptions.htm
If the textures cause the issue, you could try "Use CPU memory" in Render Setup > Kernel > rendering Setting and adjusting CPU memory limit option.
let us hear from you.
Regards
Paride

it is a bug with octane Another update on scene evaluation (octane viewport) and Phoenix fd.

version 4.39 with PFLOW disabled mesh instances takes 9 min 27 seconds to open 5gb scene with 5 fire grids.

version 4.38 - 2 min to open a 5gb scene with 5 fire grids.

Please fix it, otoy. We have 4.38 with wrong mb direction for liquids and 4.29 we cannot use because evaluation time is 5 items longer. So we cannot even work now.

4.39 opens faster with pflow disable but once phoenix fire sims are added it takes now 5 times longer.
