Render boost by system overclocking. Why?

I noticed with the new Octane benchmark that I can get better scores by overclocking my PC system in the bios. Going from "Normal" to "Performance" in the bios, raise my scores from 198 to 211 on a GTX 1080 Ti.
To verify there was actually a speed gain I tested it again on one of my own scenes. Render time dropped from 139 to 132 seconds. It was a pure rendering test, so compiling the scene was not a part of it.

Is this speed gain because of a higher CPU clock ? Anyone with similar experience?

Hi Zay,
since from v3 the frame buffer has been moved to RAM and managed by CPU, it seems quite normal to me that you see a little bit of better performance with oc settings.
Obviously, you need to consider the general temperature of the system during long rendering sessions.
