Object ID pass

Hi

Is the Object ID pass working as expected?

I'm rendering an Object ID pass but when I try and select and ID channel in after effects I get no results. Is there some workflow I'm unaware of here?

Shouldn't the exr have some data contained inside that I can pull a matte from with the ID Matte effect in AE?

I know I can use render layer masks- but I have many objects I need mattes for in my scene, which would mean a jump in render times.

Thanks

What's geometry engine in render settings? It should be on default option

Hi SteFrnkRss,
did you try with Material ID?
Alternatively, you can use the object tag to define different Object color masks in the Object Layer tab.

Hi guys

Thanks for the quick reply.

Aoktar:
Geometry engine is set to Resend Only Updated Object. Geometry Control Auto Detect.

Bepeg4d:

Yes, using the materialID with a key effect in after effects gives me a matte I can use as a workaround.

But the key would mix different objects. Unless I assign pure R G B to each of the objects- which would limit me to three colours. In vray there was a multimatte pass where I could render as many R G B passes (splitting the multiple objects across different passes) as I needed for the scene. Giving me a unique colour per object.

The IDentifier effect in AE tells me there is 'No suitable integer channels available' - so I'm guessing the data in the pass is purely RGB, which wouldn't work with IDentifier/ ID matte or the Nuke equivalent?
