i've put an octane objecttab in the emitter and it still doesn't want to show up in the live view. i've seen a couple of videos of what people have done like enabling the particle render but i don't even have that option.. any help?

You'l lfind particles tab in octane object tag. It will be activated when you add it to emitters. Yoy can add any objects to render in this part.
