3.06.2 - Network Rendering - Sequence fails random[SOLVED]

Hi All,

We are having our network renders randomly fail in a somewhat strange fashion. If I for example, set an animation to render from frames 1 to 100, sometimes it will stop mid-way through the sequence.

The picture viewer timeline showing the total range of frames to be rendered also changes to display only the frames that actually worked, and then the render stops.

Our hardware / Software is...

Octane 3.06.2
Windows 10 (with Creator Update)
GTX 1080 (x2)
Cinema 4d R18
10Gbit Network

I actually had this problem on 3.05 too and thought it was just my machine. Any tips on how to stop this happening, or what might be causing it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Cahal

Hi Cahal,
please, double check your scene and remove any c4d shader that you could have in materials, and add the ImageTexture node to any Bitmap that does not have one.
You can go in Live View menu Materials/Texture manager to have an instant look of the state of all your images.
This two issues can give a lot of problems during net rendering.

Hi Beppe,

Thanks for your response, we will certainly try that out too.

We actually think we resolved the problem after some testing. We are using identical hardware, but discovered the graphics card drivers were different for each card. I installed the same driver on each (the latest from nvidia) and it appears to be working just fine!

Cheers,
