Octane pathtracing vs LBNL radiance for daylight study

Hi,

I would like to know how accurate is Octane pathtracing kernel for a daylight simulation. Is it comparable to the radiance engine provided by Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory.

This is a question that has been in the back of my mind for several years now, ever since we first committed to octane render.
I believe Otoy could further cement it place in in the building industry by providing a light level analysis info channel with the same credibility that radiance has.

This would be extraordinarily helpful In documenting green building compliance visa lighting power density and facade transparency with the various global standards adopted around the world. It would helping us play our part in achieving the global warming/climate goals of the Paris Accord that is currently front and center in world news given the United States resent withdrawl.

Otoy - Go Green! Give us the tools to measure our work, guilt our clients to do the right thing, and sign on to the accord yourselves.

I have just found this thread...

I completely agree, we just finished a project in which the client needed a light analysis for the working areas...
The task was given to a company who used our 3d model for their simulation...
I have seen the finished work... I am 100% sure octane can surpass this super easy... what we need would be a false colour pass with a customizable colour scale e.g. to display surface brightness on surfaces.

That would be a killer feature for all architects!

yes please, light analysis shader / tool would be incredibly useful!
