Using image sequence as alpha

Hi all,

Im quite new to octane, and have looked for an answer for this...but cant find one!

Im trying to use a black and white jpeg sequence as an alpha map in the 'Opacity' channel of my material.

Problem is...it doesnt work! The sections I want invisible are just black. When I load a singular image, it seems to work however. Is there a way of making a JPEG sequence work, or is it just not possible? It works in standard/physical renders and materials, but not octane.

Hope this all makes sense, and any help would be great! :)

Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob,
please, have a look at the bottom part of this document about image sequences in Image Texture node.
Probably something wrong with path, or file numbering, since it has to work in any kind of channels/nodes.

I remember having issues with the first frame (0/1) when using bitmap sequences. Is it only the first frame or during the whole animation?

Only possibility for an issue like that having an first frame image at somewhere than selected location of sequence images. So plugin would find wrong search location for relative image sequence paths.

hi robroy85,
It does appear to work with an image sequence as expected, here is a sample for you.
Do check your animation settings as Beppe mentioned
