octane daylight vs mesh emitters - why daylight way faster

Why is octane daylight so much faster than mesh emitters and ies?

I have a night exterior scene that is rendering sooo slow with 3 gtx 780 cards. but when using daylight light it renders nicely fast.
???

and im still having problems with render target evaluation server loading time also very slow, even when geometry is set to scatter.

Hi adamrg7,
how many lights you have in the night scene?
The daylight version is completely lit by one single brighter light.
About the compilation issue, how much system RAM do you have?

Important to remember that every polygon on a mesh light emitter is a light source. So if you pick a mesh with 50 polygons you have 50 light sources !

I have 16gb ram.

and ive been trying to use meshes with very little polygons most of the time one face for emitters.

i have approximately many light sources.. like 20 exterior, and 20 interior.. maybe a bit more, theyre like pot lights on floor and ground in lobby of hotel.
outside potlights, and some others.. why?

?? no response.

i tried lowering the amount of lights to like 5, by faking it, instead of pot lights, im using large planes.

at first i thought it was better, but now i dont know, still taking very long to render, i dont understand.

Hi adamrg7,
16GB could be not enough with large scenes.
Take a look at task manager while sending the scene to GPUs.
About night shots, if you have 40 lights against one big light (the sun), it is normal to have a slow down. But in v3 PT you can reduce GI clamp and use Adaptive Sampling to have a good image in acceptable render time:
