hi
i'm trying to save a material i have created - i right click, add to local db.
then i find the material in the local db, right click > render > and all textures are missing :-/
what do i do wrong? - or have i misunderstood the use of the local db?
thanks

ok - to answer my own question - you need to select all the sub nodes and then save to local db.

I had that problem also. I found the best way to save a material node set up is to save it as an ORBX file (don't forget to add a material out pin to it). Then you can just import that ORBX into whatever file you are currently working on. Basically, it packages all the textures used. I suspect just saving a material into the local DB doesn't do that and hence, all kinds of path issues?

i think you are right - it seems just saving the nodes messes up the path in my original file...
how do out add an material out, and what i the exact purpose of it?

it seems that saving as orbx did not work for me, the material maps are not saved in the file.
i right click the material in the outline - save > name.orbx, but when i open it it's missing the maps :-/
EDIT
ok, i do need to manual select all nodes attached to the material and then save as orbx - and it seems to work.
but what about the "material_out" node? i have searched the standalone manual, but did not find any documentation??
EDIT II
ahh it adds a output to a group of nodes.... i guess
thanks

Hi Jorgensen,
great that you have finally found the way.
Note that if you have grouped all the nodes of a metarial connected to a geometry node, the Material output node is created automatically.
In the documentation, the same concept is described about .orbx nodes with geometry:
https://docs.otoy.com/manuals/products/ ... orbx-file/
