Modo gradient driving octane's gradient

Hi Chaps,
Much, much confusion on my part with regards to octanes gradient nodes and how to actually use them.
Basic case scenario - I have created a Red, Green Blue gradient in modo and then plugged this modo gradient into the Octane Gradient 2 node via right-click Add channel / Gradient RGBA.
The Octane result is completely different. Can I expect to see the same result?
I am have always struggled with the octane gradient nodes, they just do not seem to work in a way I expect. Are there any good tuts or overviews about how they can be used?
Here is a modo v10 scene with the setup I would have expected to work, hope that someone can shed some light on this for me.
