Bug rendering object with multiple layers

This bug is a little weird as it wasn't happening the other day in the same scene with pretty much the same stuff in the scene, a few objects were modified and a few objects were added but more or less the scene has been the same. All of a sudden I reload the scene that was working and I start up IPR and half my scene isn't rendering. It ends up rendering only the first layer of my room object and all the individual objects I have in the scene. The first time this happened I was able to load up an old scene that was still working and update my model to the latest one and make my other changes and everything was good. But then I opened that scene back up yesterday and it's back to having the problem and now trying to load old scenes I still have that problem. Starting with a fresh scene I loaded my main room object into that and I get the same problem, only rendering the first layer. Today to try and get around the issue I saved each layer into its own object and it is rendering correctly as you can see in the attached image. Also attached is a render of the problem I'm having.

I am using the beta and I was on 3.06.0.4 but have upgraded to .5 and still having the problem. Haven't had the chance yet to switch back to the last stable release but render times are so much faster with adaptive sampling that I'd really like to keep using the beta.

Hi,

It is a weird issue. What are your layer names inside the object? Perhaps all the layers have the same name, and with the "Instance LW Clones" object enabled, you are rendering a lot of instances of the first layer.

If you want, send me the object by pm or email and I could check it here [email protected]

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Yes, the problem is that all your object layers have the same name. With the "Instance LW clones" option enabled in the render target root node options, all these layers are rendered like instances from the first one, all at the same place.

You have two options for this kind of objects: rename the layers to have a unique name for each one, or disable the "Instance LW clones" option in the render target root node options panel.

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Good to know but it is odd that I never named them in the first place and it was working fine then all of a sudden it had a problem.

Batch rename object layers. Allows you to also add or remove a prefix or suffix.
