Octane-related (?) file corruption?

Came in to work on a project today, but we were unable to open it. Tried on multiple computers with same result. Tried opening multiple versions of the file, and the last one that worked was from April 7. That is inexplicable enough, but it gets worse. After testing a number of variables (different machines, merging, etc.), they found it opens if Octane is uninstalled. Of course, this doesn't help us because then we have a model we can't render. Any clue why this would be? (Using MAX 2017 and Octane 3.05.3)

SOLVED!! Turns out there was a glitch with an Octane proxy. Not sure if it was corrupt or mis-pathed or what, but it took the better part of a day for two people to isolate the issue. Glad it's resolved, but it seems there could be a less destructive and more informative way to clue us in.
