Hi!! I'm looking to move to windows to run octane in Cinema 4D and i'm looking for some advice to build my pc.

I have a 1700$ budget and a friend of mine suggested me this config:

AMD RYZEN 7 1700X 3.8GHZ
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400 PC4-19200 16GB 2x8GB CL16
Cooler Master Hyper TX3i CPU Cooler
Samsung 850 Evo SSD Series 250GB SATA3
WD Blue 1TB SATA3
Owlotech EVO USB 3.0 500W
Corsair VS 650W 80 Plus
MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8GB GDDR5X

what do you think about this?

Thanks a lot and i hope that i would spend so much time in this forum

It looks fine to me, however, since you're a 3D artist I suppose, why not adding an extra $100 and going for an AIO instead of air cooling for the CPU ? Despite Octane being GPU based, you'll still put some load on the CPU in other tasks, and trust me, an AIO is night and day compared to air cooling, no matter how beefy the heatsink is. I might even add another $150 for a waterblock for your 1080, it would keep the temps around 50C under full load, and because Octane renders in full time, expect your GPU to be under full load as long as Octane is active, and that would send the temps to the mid 80C with the standard cooling it comes with.

If you're going for an AIO, would recommend the Corsair H110i for your CPU, depending on where you live, it would keep the temps in the mid 60C under full load. I live in Morocco and it can get very hot here, we're talking about 45C ambient, and while on full load, the AIO keeps my 6700K at the mid 70C.

But, if you're not going for any of that, make sure the case allows good airflow, you didn't mention which case you're using, but I'd go for an ATX with at least 3 case fans. All in all, in terms of performance, your setup is enough, your only issue would be temps. And also, don't forget to ask around about the Ryzen and how it behaves with Octane, it's new so you might wanna ask around the forum if there are any compatibility issues with it, you never know.

And good luck !
