Displacement artefacts

Why is my dispalcement texture showing artefacts that derive apparenty from the polygons of the underlying object?

Is it really possible, that none of those 184 poeple that viewed my post has ever encountered / heard of this problem?

Hi gueoct,
Your issue is exactly what you said:
"That drifts apparenty artefacts from the polygons of the underlying object".
Two ways to solve:
1 change displacement map mid level (not sure will solve your issue)
2 applies displacement only to polygons you want to displacement (recommended)

i tried option1, did not help.
option2: i do not quite understand what you mean by that.
The Displaced Material is applied to the whole object.
how could i apply displacement only to a certain selection of polygons?

btw. i am using Octane plugin version 2232.191.
is there maybe a known displacement issue in this old version?

Now i found the problem:
I removed the bump and normal map!

Hi gueoct,
"Currently, displacement cannot be used together with a normal map on the same material as this would result in rendering artefacts on that material.
The same is true for bump maps although the digital artefacts are less pronounced."
