1080 GPU's and Octane Performance

We are looking to a new machine with 4 1080's. I know there was some discussion about the new series of GPU's not being fully optimized yet.

How much advantage with OCTANE have you guys seen with the 1080's. I know on GPUBENCHMARKS site there is a good difference...but that doesn't always translate to specific apps.

Thanks!

Hi,
Depending of the size and kernel, I have for example with PT:
- octane stand alone demo (3.0.4 with cuda 7/8) with limited size of the demo : the 1080 is on par or 2% slower than 980ti
- Octane test 3.0.6 test 4 (cuda 8) :
* size HD (1920x1080), the 1080 is about 5% faster than 980Ti (135 at octanebench)
* 4K size , the 1080 is about 10% faster than 980Ti

So that seems to pretty much follow the numbers found on GPU Benchamrks site here. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

The 980ti is about 10% faster than 1080.

I can only conclude that the Optimization issues with the new series gpu have been minimized in some of the latest builds. Thanks for the info.
