Hi,
I wanted to know if there is a way to export from XSI the hair & fur in Octane .
I did several tests but I have not come to any solution.
Maybe you can do with ICE, but I'm not very practical to use it..
Tnx in advanced!

I haven´t the intention to add hair to the plugin.
But you can use melena from StudioNEST to convert hairs to strands.

I was just playing around with this...
I used save rendermesh addon. Make a thin strip which will be a single hair. Use the hair instancing feature to use the strip. Use save rendermesh to export and OBJ. Works.

Hi!
I tried using this method.
I created a bunch of grass, and with ICE have created instances on the geometry.
With the addon Rendermesh I created the file obj.
Imported the obj file in XSI and after exported to Octane.
The result has been obtained even, if I should bring the rate to 150000 issuer frim Surface, and do not weigh anything in XSI.
so, with the rendermesh obj, we are more than 3 million polygons!
Unthinkable, especially with large works on outdoor ..
I hope that the instances in Octane come soon.

Magog, I don't have a chance to try it for myself right now, but when you use ICE for instancing, will the geometry bend to the strand, like it does for Hair?

Hi Adren.
With this way, I don't use Hair.
I made a easy geometry, and with ICE I've create instancing.

Hi, other scene.
I was inspired by this post:

Although it is a kind of fake, I think the result is quite satisfactory, considering the vram exploited.

I´ve Tried to download Melena and I just Found the Source Code and SP2011+...
Is there an Addon file or Do I have to transform these codes in a Addon file? I don´t know to do this and I need to use strands to make some types of carpets.
Can someone help me how to install melena?
I´m Using Softimage 2011.
Thanks
