Working with zoom in OctaneSE

I've been looking for really simple tutorials or an explanation of camera controls in OctaneSE, but I can't find it anywhere.
Is there a way to move around in a scene without zooming? I've been having to do all this crazy stuff with zooming and panning and rotating where I just wanted to strafe left or right. A list of keybindings would be nice..or any hints really.
I'm a long time supporter of Octane (I bought 1.2 back when that came out and recently upgraded to 3.x) but i'm*just* starting out in really using it. It seems like there are a lot of great tutorials for everything except the thing I'm looking for
