Hi Guys,

How do you create fog/haze using Octane Volume primitive ? like shown in this C4D tutorial ? I have try to apply volume shader to the primitive but it doesn’t work at all ….everything seems to be so easy in C4D.. please help..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSIV6HVYdj8

I know you can create Octane day light with volume medium but can you do it without daylight ? what if I need to do stage lighting or moon lighting etc…?

I am using max2016 with latest octane 3dsmax plugin.

Thanks

J

Hi paride4331,

Really helpful links and thanks so much for the test file ! so we cant use Volume primitive like in c4d ?
they seems to have a preset for fog and able to add pattern to it. How can we customize the fog to make it more interesting?

your tests really need to be included in Octane 3dsmax manual !!

Cheers

J

Hi jim99,
Octane for 3dsMax does not have this feature currently, it is only possible through a .VDB with its internal structure.

We have had confirmation from Autodesk that they have accepted our issue report that motion blur is not working correctly. Unfortunately it has taken them a long time to get the issue sorted out. Their engineers have fixed the issue and it is already available in Max Beta (as of 2 weeks ago), but of course we will have to wait for them to release it.

Thank you. And what about Phoenix FD 3 support. I asked many, many times and no eta when? We desperately need new PHoenix FD 3 for it's fast flip solver that ver 2.2 does not have. Thank you

lol i already bought a bottle of champagne for this occasion . Will open it as soon as mb for liquids works which are done using Phoenix FD 3 and are cleanly rendered using AS by means of integrated OCR
