Hi guys!

So I've got a problem. I would like to use Octane to render a flower petal.
I want to have slight translucency, and 2 different textures, on both sides of petal.

The problem is that I need to use cloth nurbs. Although side material is working with cloth nurbs,
and I can achieve 2 sides with 2 different textures I was able to do it only with simple setups.

When I am trying to mix material with SSS, and diffuse, and then mix it with side material, then all goes to hell.

Does someone has any idea how I could achieve the effect I am after?

Yes, I am uploading some pictures with a simple setup that I have.

As You can see it's a solution that will look the same on both sides of the petal.
What I want to achieve is to have both sides textured differently.

By using inverted thickness on cloth NURBS You can trick it to show 2 materials at the same time.
You need to have an editable plane (or other flat geometry), invert normals and throw it into the cloth NURBS.
Then apply texture tag onto cloth NURBS. This way it shows one side with one texture, and the other side + thickness walls
with the other one.

The problem is how to make it so both texture will use SSS, and Side material correctly.

EDIT: Whilst writing this message and rethinking it, and testing it once more I had the Eureka moment,
which showed me that I was thinking from the wrong side about it. So I have found a solution
(which is embarrassingly simple).

instead of mixing with sss, and then with side materials I I have done exactly the opposite. First I ensured that
both side of petal render like they should with both textures, and afterwards mixed it with SSS.

So sorry for taking Your time. I think this topic can still be useful because of the inverted thickness trick at least

I think you missed that you need correct face normals. This informations are in standalone sections and known by haunters of SA. Emissions, mediums require some proper normals and works on this way.

Hmm it's possible, some I'll need to do some further testing.
