In octane gallery there are lots of images showing interior lights. Though I am very much obsessed by the renders in gallery but i m unable to find out any way to add lights in octane or mesh emitters kind thing. I dont know how any lighting software can be considered useful having no lights in it or no documentation currently guiding how to do the same.

Please tell me if there is some way i can add lights.

Secondly can i tweak the sizes of objects in this software if no how can i integrate it with max so that I dont have to material the scene in octane again.

Any help is greatly appreciated

thanks

The demo version is based on Octane 2.2, which didn't have emitters yet, which were introduced in Octane 2.3. We are planning to release a demo this week, which is based on Octane 2.4 and therefore has emitters.

Cheers,
Marcus

hi manish_mv,

first, the demo version is an older version that didn't have mesh lights yet. the full version has. refractive said they would update the demo version at some point though.
with the full version its as simple as assigning a diffuse material and change its emitter type to black body or texture emitting. be advised that the more (complex) faces your mesh has, the noisier your render gets (i.e. the longer it takes to get a clean render).

you can't tweak objects in octane. when updating scene geometry, you'd have to export the obj/mtl files only and reloading it in octane. octane will then update the scene geometry, keeping every previously assigned material within octane.

one reason there isn't a proper documentation yet, is that octane's still in beta. in my personal opinion, the program is quite intuitive though and the documentation available actually quite usable.

hope that helped.

EDIT: abstrax is a faster typist then i am it seems...
