Mix and Cosine Mix

What is the real difference between these 2 nodes and which ones are used to do what? Sorry for noobish questions, trying to convert my workflow and materials to work primarily in Octane and Modo.
Also will there be support for Python 2 or 3 in the near future or will it be only scripting in Lua?

sorry for the late answer.
Here is a rough graph to try to explain the difference between Mix and cosine mix:
In practice, the cosine Mix doesn't follow a linear interpolation between the two colors like the normal mix does, but it follow a cosine curve.
About scripting, Lua is for Standalone, c4dOctane can work with phyton, maybe you have to ask to the Modo dev.

Thanks Beppe, could you tell me of an example of a material mix that benefits from Cosine? I now understand the mixing via the graph, but still unsure when to use it or not. Sorry, the cosine mix is new to me.

Yes, what's the deal with cosine mix ? Why was this implemented in a first place ? Why not log mix or pow2 mix or a fruit mix ?
