Installation Procedure

I just upgraded to 3.04.5 and I have to say your software has the worst possible installation procedure of any package I've ever used in the 20 years of computer graphics work I have done. I did finally get through it with the help of a friend, but not only is your documentation incorrect, but the procedure is convoluted.

You now ask for a login upon start up (first time only I assume) that is supposed to be the OTOY site login. But yet your licenses also carry a "username" "password" and your UI makes no distinction between the two.

Your installation procedure has set the tone of my morning to be incredibly negative, and that's an experience I've never had with a software installer.

I assume you use Octane Standalone as this post is in the general discussion forum and don't explicitly talk about a specific plugin.

The license "username" and "password" are there for legacy purposes as v2 requires them for activation. However v3 has moved to a floating licensing scheme, meaning that you just need to use your OTOY credentials to activate your software for the first time as explained in the documentation:

https://docs.otoy.com/manuals/products/ ... et-access/

I hope your experience improves from now.
