How to use normal maps in Octane for Lightwave?

For instance on a 3d text, what UV can I best make?

Anyone a good preset that I can see/ use?

Thanks!

Freddy

You can use the normal texture maps like any other texture in Octane, using the texture image node. You only need to link the texture image node to the "Normal" input available in all the Octane material nodes.

I have yet to get normal maps to show up well with the specular material skin material I have made. The specular material shows bump maps great (I did not add the bump map to the specular material in this example). You can see how good the normal map shows with the gloss material, but how it almost does not show up at all with the specular material. The specular material has a diffuse map and scattering medium applied to it.

I am testing the normal mapping in the specular material and it seems to work fine here. Can be something related to your material setup. If you want to send me the scene, I could test it here.

Thanks,

Hi juanjgon,

I apologize for the post as I see I put this into the Lightwave 3d plugin forum (I was searching normal maps). I will repost this into the general section as I am using a DAZ character as an direct .obj import into the Standalone application. Thank you for the response. :D
