Houdini Demo Not Rendering, only black screen

Hi all,
I installed the Octane Demo 3.00.20.1 for Houdini FX 15.5.480 and am unable to get anything to render, even with a basic scene from scratch like in the "Getting Started" guide. I have looked through forum posts and google searches and found no one having similar issues. The Plug-in itself seems to be working as I can access all its features, however I tried looking through the log file for information and it doesn't offer much help. The IPR window will usually sit on "PreProcessing Scene" for a bit before getting stuck on "Rendering", as does rendering to Disk alongside the MPlay window. The debug log file mirrors it by ending on "DEBUG: [render] ------------ Render setup Ok." and doesn't continue with rendering, even if I let it sit for a long period. I also tried rendering in the Standalone demo version with the sample files and they rendered perfectly fine.
My basic system specs are as follows:
CPU - Intel Xeon CPU E3-1231 v3 @ 3.4GHz
Ram - 16 GB
GPU - Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070
Any help would be appreciated.
