The sphere

Hi, why in Rhino only sphere is available as a texture preview? Any tries to change it to any other objects are failed. Take a look to this video:

Hi - Octane only produces spherical material preview thumbnails.

Then why there shape selection? What the point if they do not work?

The shape selections are a Rhino function, but the actual generation of the preview bitmaps is done by Octane, and it only renders spherical previews.
