I'm about to receive all the parts to build a 4x 1080 rig, last thing I need to get now is a monitor. Coming from a 5k iMac I have been pretty spoilt by the pixel density and clarity of the display..

Currently my shortlist is the Dell 27" 5k but we have this at work and I'm not too impressed.

Theres also the LG and Asus ones but I know nothing about them.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good display preferably 4/5k?

Thanks for reply!

I have been considering it, however I'm not sure if I can take not having less than 4K now I'm so used to it.

May I ask why you are not impressed by the 5k Dell monitor?
I have multiple ips 4k Dell UP2414Q and I like it a lot.

if you're not after print work and >%90 Adobe RGB color space . You have a lot of option with lower budgets.

I believe these are somewhat good pages to start with.
Read them compare cons pros on each site, Make a decision, post here what you purchased, and explain why your newly bought monitor is not good enough for you :)) Kinding of course.

I dont have a 4K monitor. I occasionally have glimpse look at my wifes 27" 5K apple imac and mesmerised by it.

May Iask you if a 24" 4K monitor is logical at all? or not? would it give any headaches with the small UI in some apps? Do you run them at native res. all times?

I have a dell UP2716D a 2K monitor with impressively good color display. I event think 27 is again small for a 4K monitor.
What's your thoughts on this. I'm really curious. And I am considering buying one myself.

HDR 10 bit is the standard that is needed to see the "full" effect of High Dynamic Range content for purposes as playing HDR PS4 content etc.

Can anyone name a 4k monitor that supports the HDR 10 standard?

Most of the 4k monitors and tvs labelled HDR currently only support 8 bit.

compare:

-> If you are not in desperate need to purchase now maybe the situation will look better after CES 2017.

I would go for this one without doubt! Really good reviews and state of the art performance overall.
I have the smaller pro art model and It is simply awesome in every aspect.

I use only one monitor with full 4k res, and that is monitor with only octanerender viewport...
This way I have good window for final render resolution to see total picture without taking workspace, coz' it has seperate monitor.
The monitor(s) for workspace are with lower res, which is good enough for workspace en software icons still to read.
The other can set to 4k as well for gaming if I find time for that
Also main reason to choose this monitor was because of ips, and I rather have same monitors then different ones :D
Oh and I can see the screen very well, even from angle view!
Cheers,
