I bought Octane with the Rhino Plugin together less than a week ago. Unfortunately I actually just like the standalone version better than the plugin. Will OTOY offer a refund for this? I contacted support but I have not heard anything back.

as far as I know usually OTOY do not offer refunds, but try to wait for answer from them directly. As for reply on the other hand give them a day or few, especially if You count in weekend days (keep in mind differences in time zones, etc.)
by the way, standalone is awesome & I fell in love with it as well =)

The graph editor is just great to work with. And in a dual monitor set up I leave octane open on one monitor and it is so easy to export your obj and relink the model. With other programs I couldn't do this as fast because CPU renders would bog down my computer.
As for the plugin for rhino, I just don't like how the materials are built into the rhino material editor. Its hard to manage and the node editor is basically obsolete in Rhino. You can use it, but really just per material. I like to see everything in one graph, from cameras, etc. Also everything I saw prior the materials were built into the octane tab, however it was not the case. I wish they had a free demo of the plugin like other platforms. 3DS etc.

right there with you. my Maya plugin sits on the "shelf". it looked like it was going to go in the direction of integrating standalone editor as an option for workflow.... this way the best of both worlds are available. now they just reverted back to the way it was. Hopefully this is temporary just to get it compatible with v3 and they release something of quality.

I am unsure how the Maya plugin works, but it would even be nice if octane utilized Hypershade. I do not think it is as good as the octane graph. However, Hypershade works well with Arnold. (I know Arnold is built into Maya now so it should be fluid.)

I got a response from support. Refunds are only given for purchases that have not yet been activated, or if something is not working that should of been working from the demos.
