Force environment visibility for reflections.

Hi guys,

I would like to know how i can achieve that in Octane.

- i have a torus
- i have a closed object that represent my studio set interior
- i have an environment that generate nice reflections

I would like even if my studio set object is visible that my torus catch the nice reflections of my env.
it's not physical but that would be cool to find a way that allow the env to be seen even if my torus is enclosed by my studio set.

Thanks for your light
Cheers
E

Hi,

Sorry, currently you can't hide objects for the reflected/refracted rays. This feature is only available for the primary camera rays and for the shadows.

The workaround could be render two passes, one with the torus and other with the closed object, and compose them in post, or try to add an internal sphere around the torus mapped with the environment texture and hidden for the camera and shadows rays. Anyway, the solution is not easy. Sorry for that.

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hmm, if you are talking about excluding objects from the reflections, I don't think so. Now Octane supports the light exclusion, but not the objects level reflection/refraction exclusion yet.

Thanks,
