Use C4D Team Render Server with Octane

I've been reading the forums for a couple of hours and it seems like others have gotten this to work, but I'm apparently missing something. I have a large project that will require substantial rendering while still actively working. I'd like to use Team Render Server with a couple of clients to render, while working on my master system. I've seen several posts of people who have a similar setup working, however when I try to do so, all of the outputs are just black frames. The consoles do not appear to show any licensing errors as others have mentioned. I copied/pasted the oct.dat file as well. The manual has this to say:
This is easier to setup. Only need a client or other copy of Cinema 4D which is working on Client Machine.
It should work smoothly if can work with Standart Renderer

SETUP FOR CINEMA 4D NATIVE NET RENDERING
NET client wants to read preferences file of Octane Render

You should copy oct.dat file from c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\Cinema4Dr15_ABCDEFGH directory of Cinema 4D

to c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\Cinema4Dr15_ABCDEFGH\
As I understand that, I've done it, but its still just outputting black frames. I have Octane standalone and c4d plugins installed on each machine and licensed.

What the heck am I missing?! I'm beyond frustrated so I'm sure I'm just overlooking something obvious.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer.

Haven't tried this since long time. But oct.dat method is old and nonfunctional i suppose. Because we switched to shared license system between SA/plugins. And it should work somehow on same pc after running and giving creditentals on c4d plugin. I'm not %100 sure.

Btw Octane Netrender is far better than team render.

99.99999% of the time I use Octane Net Render. My issue is that I only have 1 license of CInema 4D. Because of this, I can't work on one machine while the other 2 are cranking out renders (unless there's another way to set that up that I'm simply unaware of).

1 C4d + 2 SA licenses?

I have 1 Cinema 4D license, which allows unlimited team render server/client installs for a small render farm. I've used it on non-octane projects many times. My small farm is 3 total PCs, 1 main workstation and 2 render nodes. I have 3 SA license and 3 C4D plugins (1 for each box). They've all worked perfectly with Octane Net Render and at appear to be licensed properly within Cinema 4D itself.

Run C4D client.exe and check if octane plugin loaded and running. But as i said i haven't tested TR since long time. Your issue maybe about resource distribution for textures. Don't know

It appears to load fine. It says:
Loaded Octane DLL:OctaneRender 3.04.3 version: 3040300
Octane Render for Cinema 4D 3.04.3
Octane Render SDK version 3.04.3
No errors that I can see. All textures are procedural plastic textures so there shouldn't be a need to transfer an image textures.

If this won't work, can you direct me to documentation on how to set it up to use the render queue and only use remote GPU for render while reserving local GPU for working? I'm not sure if that's even possible, but that would be an acceptable solution as well.

Thanks so much for your prompt replies/assistance.

My advice to you is to use Octane NetRender not TR. I can't assist well by being away from office for weekend. But you can check manual and support forum.
Btw you have to make that master pc is rendering. So use a client as master.

To that end, we have added render jobs as a new node type int 3.04+ to enable queued renders to be created by the host app (e.g C4D) and efficiently batch rendered across network rendering slaves (in groups of up to 20 GPUs per render target), as well as send additional rendertargets from the job to be handled in parallel (e.g. frames are just one type of segment you can split this way), In theory 20,000 GPUs (grouped into 20 per render target) could process 1000 frames (or batch segments such as baking all maps for a scene) in parallel. This is what ORC does when it gets render job nodes in an ORBX package.

Thanks once again for the replies. Just so I'm understanding... are you saying I can use standalone to be the master on one of my rendernodes for a c4d scene? Can you point me to the node you're speaking about in 3.04+. That sounds like it might be a great solution, but I've admittedly done no work in the standalone, so I'll be flying a bit blind with it. I hope I'm understanding that correctly and apologies if I'm off base.
