c4d noise and octane for bump

I've just taken out an Octane subscription for c4d - woohoo! I'm rendering a packshot with some glass bottles. Normally in c4d I add a micro bump to the glass, 2% scaled noise at 1% strength, 2% delta or thereabouts. How do Achieve a similar thing in Octane?

Use Octane noise. Create a transform node in noise. that's all. Enjoy it!

Thanks for the reply.

Trying your suggestion - and failing! I use the UVW Transform settings in the noise node, and set the scale. When I set the scale low, the glass just becomes frosted. I need there to be a micro bump on the glass surface, but the glass must remain glossy and transparent.

Any tutorials out there for this problem?

Perhaps the scale is too small or otherwise does not conform to the C4D method.

Try connecting the noise node to a color correct node and decreasing the power (Brightness).

I'm still not getting how bump works at all. It's so different from any other renderer I've tried. Going to look for some tutorials and see if I can figure it out.

Meantime, I've been having a problem with the LiveDB, something I was really excited about when ordering Octane. When I download a material and apply it to a sphere say, it looks nothing like the preview in the LiveDB window, I don't think it's downloading the required images. Also I was expecting a vast library of materials to be available, there don't seem to be that many. How can I get the materials to download properly?

Previews built with preview scene. Note that you need proper size to get same look. I don't think there's a problem about texture downloads. But they should be available in packs. And download materials in saved scenes. Because resourcea will be unpacked to a sub directory of project. Also materials built by users.

OK got a bit of time to play with noise and bump, and YAY! got a nice micro-bump on my glass surface using procedural Octane perlin noise. It's all about the gamma, keeping that low stops the glass looking frosted.

And today the live DB also seems to be working. Guess my problems are solved, for now...
